It’s that time of year again. The time when we look back at the holidays and remember all the beers, glasses of wine, all the baked goods and roasted beasts and wonder how it is we have nothing that fits any longer. Well, at least some of us are wondering that. No matter what, January 1 is a universal “reset” for all of us… a do over of sorts. It’s a chance for us to wipe the leader board clean and set new goals that will inspire and challenge us in the new year.
Are Your Goals Too Lofty? Too General?
Plenty of us will set some rather lofty and probably overly general goals like “exercise/ride more" and many of us will find ourselves dropping the ball and possibly sputtering out. Which is why it’s better to set yourself up with a long-term goal. Something you can work towards over the span of weeks and months. We suggest setting your sights on a cycling event, be it for a good cause or just for the challenge (did someone say endurance event??).
Bring a Friend (or two, or three...) Along for Succcess
Even better, if you can, sign up with some friends. Training for these events in a group setting can help keep you going even when your legs and heart may not be in it. Working together as a team has been proven (drafting anyone?) and sharing in the spoils of a hard workout done well makes the victory all that much sweeter.
We’ve pulled together a sampling of some of our favorite events right here in Florida for you to consider:
Battle of the bridges
12 Hours of Santos
8 Hours of Labor
Cycle for a Cause:
Space Coast Early Intervention
Breast Cancer Awareness
Ride for Hope
