Proper bicycle fit is the critical difference between comfort and pain, fast and slow, safe and unsafe.
Fitting starts with selecting the right size bike frame. Most bikes are not one-size-fits-all, but rather, come in different frame measurements to help you obtain the best overall fit. Frame size is usually measured along the length of the seat tube (the tube which supports a bike's seat and seat post). While measurement standards vary slightly between different manufacturers, one of our certified fit specialists can help you determine the ideal size range to fit your body type and riding style.
How does your riding style relate to a proper fit?
Your riding style will dictate the bike type, frame size, and fit. Those who wish to cruise the bike paths on a bike which affords a view of the scenery will prefer a more upright bike and fit. This style of riding contrasts with a time-trial racer who needs to be positioned for optimum aerodynamics and speed. Many components contribute to a good fit
Beyond frame size, other bike components can significantly contribute to a good fit. For instance, the style of the seat, it's height relative to the frame, the forward and aft position of he seat as well as its tilt will impact the fit, your performance, and comfort of your ride. Other factors that contribute to a proper fit include: stem length and height; crank -arm length; and width and shape of handlebars.
What does body type have to do with fit?
Have you ever heard someone say, "He's a tall drink of water," or "She's all legs?" Individual differences in body proportions are taken into account in order to achieve a personal fit. What's your riding style?
